It's been three years since Xiao Meihua was first released on June 3rd, 2016! Time flies by so fast! And to celebrate, JAE UTAU PROJECT worked together with a variety of different people to create a PV!
The chosen cover for her anniversary was "ヒカリ" (Hikari), an original Hatsune Miku (and Hatsune Mikuo) song written by アリアP (Aria-P). This 2009 song was one of Migi's (Meihua's voice provider) favorites and he especially adored derivative characters like Mikuo! It was then decided that this song would be covered for Meihua's anniversary and to help viewers understand the lyrics or give an idea of what it's about, we used MusicalShape's translation. But this cover was a much bigger project than any other we had ever done! A total of fifteen different artists were commissioned for the illustrations, where each of them drew an illustration on a scene from the original video. For the video itself, thirteen of them were featured: oweruru, shippy_things, Preuss (JAE), Ariaera, Purpled (JAE), Winter, Niramuchu, Crusher-P, solojune, Sartika3091, Parapa-kun, Rouss-Black, TerrainAkka, and SlightlyShredded (JAE)! Hebiscus did the YouTube and bilibili thumbnail while Pearl-chan0415's was used for the SoundCloud thumbnail! Ultimately, the varying art styles were truly stunning and give such an interesting look! It was a beautiful compilation! As for the cover itself, it was tuned by Lanttu, who did an amazing job with it and was very quick! We love the cover and are thoroughly impressed with her work! SlightlyShredded also did the mixing for the cover! Lastly, the awesome person who put it all together in a PV was DIVINITY who worked quickly and did a wonderful job! It was truly a pleasure working with her in addition to everyone else! We truly could not have this done without all of them!
As a whole, this project took almost half a year, with plannings beginning around late summer! We are very much in love with the end result and we hope you like it too!
But one more thing... Clearly you can see that there's two singers in this song: a male and a female. The female is obviously Xiao Meihua, but the male is someone you may not have seen before unless:
This male is known as "Xiao Meiye" (小梅叶)! Since "Hikari" is a song that features Miku alongside her fanmade male derivative, Mikuo, we wanted to keep to this theme. To do that, we gave Meihua her very own male derivative! In late 2016, we asked a question on Meihua's defunct Facebook page: "If Meihua was a male, what would his name be?". The question was asked for fun and one person suggested "Xiao Meiye", with the last character of Meihua's name, "Huā" (花), changed to "Yè" (叶). This basically changed the name's meaning from "Small Plum Flower" to "Small Plum Leaf". It was not until 2018 that we decided to design him, especially so he could be presented in this cover. Information about him as a character can be found on the website through Meihua's webpage! This includes a biography (which is a little different compared to his originator) and his very own terms of use! Despite this, Meiye is not treated as canon, so his design and biography can be altered from user to user. However, the terms of use will remain the same as derivatives that are based on Meihua's character must abide to her rules!
We are truly pleased and proud of the final outcome of this project! It was well worth it and we once again would like to thank everyone involved, for if it wasn't for them, it would not have been completed on time!
We have so many exciting things to show soon for the JAE UTAUs! But as usual, we cannot show them to you just yet until they are ready, so we hope you are looking forward to our future plans!

We found that people interacted with the Facebook page a lot less compared to twitter. In addition to that, Facebook takes a long time to post things sometimes that ultimately it was decided to scrap it altogether.
